On my way to the staffroom to see a teacher, I heard sobs coming from a classroom nearby. Curious, I decided to investigate. It was the middle of recess so everyone should be at the canteen! I took a peek from the classroom window. A bulky boy was towering over a little boy who was crying and the little boy was handing over his wallet with a bleeding hand! I was scared out of my skin and rushed to the principal’s office.

Without bothering to knock, I pushed inside and spoke in such a rush that my words overlapped each other. “Wait a minute. You saw a big boy bullying a younger boy and hurting him?” Questioned the principal. I nodded furiously. If only she could get there faster!

Upon hearing this, she pushed aside her work and rushed to the scene with me in tow.We burst into the classroom, startling both the boys. “What do you think you are doing?” Scolded the principal. The two boys looked stunned. Suddenly, both of them cracked up laughing. “What is so funny about this situation?”Asked the principal in a confused tone. When the laughing finally ceased, the smaller boy said, “We are the Drama Club members and were practicing for our year end show ‘Justice’! This is washable red paint, not blood.” he pointed at the ‘blood’.

Suddenly, my face went as red as a tomato. I felt so embarrassed for mixing things up that I wanted the floor to crack open and swallow me whole. Then, the principal burst out laughing. I was even more embarrassed! She was laughing at me!

To my surprise, she said between laughs that she thought that I am a good girl for being so aware of the anti-bully system in the school and said she was proud of me! But right then, a horrible thought struck me; I had not gone to see the teacher I was supposed to with all this excitement! I ran to the staffroom as fast as my legs could carry me and knocked at the door, I smoothed down my clothes and hair as I waited for her to say “come in” .Then, she called me in. There was a thunderous look on her face and I knew what was about to happen. I explained the story to her as best as l could. She praised me for my good deed and even gave me a chocolate bar for it!

Now I understand the saying “A good deed deserves another”! So if we help others, others will help us too!
