I know many of them have around half a million on average in annual income. Most of them invested heavily in real estate, farm land... etc. Some of them even buy units in hedge funds.
There were and still are some tax benefits in real estate investment--it helps them to reduce their AGI.
Therefore, they are still pretty rich. At least much richer than computer programmer.
