You started many good topics with insightful information about the American society and politics. I am just adding something based on my experience and observations. Very limited contribution compared with your comprehensive series, such as the Colson series on Nixon.

BTW, I have not met one Canadian yet who know American history (esp., the civil right movement history) so well as you do. Thumbs up! I guess you read a lot over years of life in Canada. You must be a big fan of the PBS documentary series "The American Experience". That series are really good: fair and critical.

FYI, Frontline, another series of PBS documentaries focused on current topics, are currently available on its website too. Just FYI.
