The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation has a two-entity structure. One entity, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation (“foundation”), distributes

money to grantees. The other, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation Trust (“trust”), manages the endowment assets. The trust makes

contributions to the foundation to fund the foundation’s grantmaking activities and its operating costs. The foundation and the trust are

separate legal entities with independently audited financial statements. The foundation received $3.873 billion in contributions from the trust

in 2012, which were used to fund the foundation’s operations comprised of grants to third parties, program-related investments and other

direct charitable expenses, operating costs, and capital expenditures

“盖茨梅林达基金会”是两层结构：Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation Trust负责管钱投资；Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation负责花钱做慈善。

2012年Trust往基金会里转了3,873,050。

2012年收到捐款2,330,762，投资收益4,201,924，但交税仅仅67,296。按个人收入40%，公司收入35%的税率来计算，减掉的税最多可以有

2,330,762*40%+4,201,924*35%-67,296 = 2,335,681

所以基金会做慈善的主要来源是抵掉的税。本来这部分钱是政府支配的，现在由巨富们支配。
