Is quantum mechanics evidence for metaphysical events?

子曰:“人能弘道,非道弘人。”《论语·卫灵公·29章》

Q: Is quantum mechanics evidence for metaphysical events?

A: By Jan Krikke

The question is a bit ambiguous, but one could say that quantum physics has dissolved the distinction between physics and metaphysics.

The word metaphysics was given posthumously to certain works by Aristotle after his work on physics (the term means literally “after physics”.)

Since that time, the word has taken on a much broader meaning: a branch of philosophy that deals with “the first principles of things, including abstract concepts such as being, knowing, substance, cause, identity, time, and space.”

Quantum physics shows that all of reality, from the cosmos to human consciousness, is “quantum reality.” This explains why virtually all the pioneers of quantum physics (Einstein, Bohr, Heisenberg, Schrodinger, etc.) were captivated by the classic Asia word view (Vedas, Tao, etc.), which had an understanding of the invisible dimension underlying all of reality.

Quantum physics has made clear that the distinction between physics and metaphysics, just like the distinction between spirit and matter, is a human construct - useful and indispensable in the development of civilization, but a human construct nonetheless.

My comment to Jan Krikke's answer:

Human construct is not only the distinction between physics and metaphysics, but also the connection, bridge or the conversion hub between physics and metaphysics. Human construct can also called PERSPECTIVE, the decisive factor behind PERSPECTIVE is PURPOSE.

In your book, you quoted a comment by Leibniz on I-Ching as follows

"...... The Chinese lost the meaning of the Cova or Lineations of Fuxi, perhaps more than a thousand years ago, and they have written commentaries on the subject in which they have sought I know not what far out meanings, so that their true explanation now has to come from Europeans.......

Westerners may easily understand the binary side of I-Ching therefore develop science including Physics but never get the real PURPOSE of I-Ching which is included in the commentaries made by acient Chinese Saints shining through the thousands of years of Chinese history.

The lastest history of Opium War till today is the perfect illustration of Tao by Chinese People.

You are right, “The road to Nirvana runs through the Land of Tao”.
