看到一个很有意思的回贴，单独写一点自己的认识。
I am always curious that given that you spent most of your time in UK, why you know the U.S. mainstream culture so well.
Most Chinese in States are not in the mainstream culture yet. Or they refuse to embrace or understand this unique American phenomenon.
物理人性一通百通，秀才不出门便知天下事,这在信息社会更是正常的。
李敖几乎没出过国，可是他可以写《阳萎美国》来批评美国总统制度。
毛泽东只去过苏联，但是对各大民族的发展和未来有非常深刻的认识。这就是毛泽东读书读得多，读得透，既能入得书，又能出得来。
我曾见过大量的毛泽东生前的读书笔记，其读书之用心用力，读书之广杂深令人惊叹。
再比如说，对美国的民主政治描述最好的人并不是一个美国人，而是法国人Alexis-Charles-Henri Clérel de Tocqueville。
他只是在美国旅游过，可是他的著作《美国的民主政治》确是公认的最深刻的描述美国政治制度的书。美国人自己读了都吓得要死,并且佩服得不得了。
美国人就有这个好处，识得古董
,懂得利害。
我在北京读大学的时候，和北大研究宪法学的一位先生曾就这本书长谈了10几个小时，至今想起来有酣畅淋漓的感觉。Tocqueville的观察和结论即使是一百多年后读起来，仍然让人有醍醐灌顶之感。
他说：
The Americans combine the notions of Christianity and of liberty so intimately in their minds, that it is impossible to make them conceive the one without the other; and with them this conviction does not spring from that barren traditionary faith which seems to vegetate in the soul rather than to live.
There are certain populations in Europe whose unbelief is only equaled by their ignorance and their debasement, while in America one of the freest and most enlightened nations in the world fulfills all the outward duties of religion with fervor.
Upon my arrival in the United States, the religious aspect of the country was the first thing that struck my attention; and the longer I stayed there, the more did I perceive the great political consequences resulting from this state of things, to which I was unaccustomed. In France I had almost always seen the spirit of religion and the spirit of freedom pursuing courses diametrically opposed to each other; but in America I found that they were intimately united, and that they reigned in common over the same country."

所以，美国政治的基础是基督教思想的统一性，以及由此产生的社会信任（TRUST）和市场协同（COORDINATION）。
美国人是最自由的民族，同时也是最不自由的民族，是以最严密的宗教意识形态和市场经济组织起来的国家机器。
这就是资本主义发展的路径：
从十万人口的天主教威尼斯，到几十万人口的宗教宽容的荷兰，到几百万人口的新教英国，在到几千万人口的基督教和天主教混杂的德国法国，最后在到人口三个亿新教一统江山的美国,及人口一亿多政治上和意识形态上都被阉割了的附庸日本。
现在，开始侵蚀资源王国东正教远东桥头堡俄罗斯和中东伊斯兰教地区土耳其等等，以及11亿人口的南亚印度教发源地印度, 和14亿人口的东亚儒家思想发源地中国。
组织形式越来越严密，人口越来越多, 市场越来越大。
鹿死谁手，尚未可知。
在美华人难以融入主流社会是正常的文化现象,是全球文化冲突的一个缩影。
就我这个民族主义者的观点来说，海外华人要创造自己的文化体系，由宗教文化入手，加强对后代的科技文化教育，在充分了解所在国制度的基础上，进行交流和渗透，利用民主政治积极参政议政，扶持本民族的政治代理人，发展地区组织，为即将到来的文化冲突做好准备。
否则，一辈子或几代人在海外的积累很可能在国与国之间的冲突中毁于一旦。所以，宗教，政治和经济是海外华人的三位一体的护身符，政治竞争是关键。
