家园 This play Illinis were not stupid, they were simply under-estimating Tar Heels ability. They did not believe a team can run that fast.
If it was J.J from Duke, this play would be totally understandable.
I think it worth a try (if vs. other teams). If he missed that three pointer, his two teammates would try to get the glass (local 2 on 1), then they might have second chance. You know, , the opponent team usually just gave up under this situation.
However, this is UNC, these guys are sheep-looking horses, who can run like hell. The highly competative ACC give you no room to hesitate and give up. They (every Heel) went back in time and stopped Illinis attempt. 哦f course, bad luck was another factor.
