关于翻译工具:我用的是Random House Webster’s Unabridged Dictionary。这个电子辞典大概只要十几美元,是我见过的最好的辞典。对于参照英文注释学习原汁原味的英文是很好的帮手,同时字典还自带例句,发音,对于海外华人子女学习英语很有帮助。你会发现俞敏洪的GRE红宝书的不少注释来自于这个辞典。

关于参考书目:西西河有规定,第一,提倡使用中文;第二,反对全文文摘。但是我要翻译的这篇文章有很多参考书目,不一定都出自大报大杂志。硬翻之下,中文读者可能会对一些小出处不明所以。所以我把英文的参考书目单列于这篇帖子,中文的翻译在後文中出现。万一中文翻译有不贴切的地方,大家可以参考原文书目。或者就保持英文书目,如果不会妨碍阅读的话。
